Summary:

This position is part of a statewide network of support that includes the Director and Assistant Director of Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) at OSPI. The position is primarily responsible for supporting districts, schools, and ESDs in building capacity to implement and sustain systems of supports. The MTSS Regional Implementation Coordinator will provide training and coaching to district leads and district teams to support their capacity in implementing a Multi-tiered System of Supports in their local schools. The MTSS Regional Implementation Coordinator will help districts implement MTSS with fidelity using the District Capacity Assessment or District Systems Fidelity Inventory at the school level, and assist the district providing the necessary supports for their school buildings to implement MTSS with fidelity for reading and behavior sequentially at tiers one, two, and three.

Essential Functions:

  • Engage as member of statewide MTSS support network, collaborating across regions, maintaining consistency, supporting implementation fidelity, and assisting in development of content and processes.
  • Provide regional support through peer-to-peer networking, technical assistance events, and connecting districts to one another to share examples and learning.
  • Provide technical assistance to district teams, including readiness for implementation, action planning, alignment, and prioritizing needs.
  • Provide training on MTSS to district and school teams.
  • Present at state conferences, including MTSS Fest.
  • Participate in the development and facilitation of statewide webinars to districts, schools, and other partners in coordination with statewide network. Regularly disseminate information between OSPI and local partners, including ESD staff and school district personnel.
  • Support ESD staff for alignment and consistency of support using the MTSS Framework.
  • Collect, analyze, and share data related to training and technical assistance, implementation, and outcomes.
  • Support districts in collecting and using data to inform training and implementation planning, including use of district capacity measures and school implementation measures.
  • Support the collection and reporting of program outcomes to OSPI.
  • Use program information to coordinate and support continuous improvement collaboration, communication, and professional learning.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Knowledge and experience in implementing or coaching Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).
  • Knowledge and experience in data collection, analysis or use in problem solving.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, to prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and a variety of stakeholders, including school district and educational service district staff, researchers, and district and state policymakers.
  • Skills in teaching or presenting to adult audiences.
  • Ability to support the state’s goals for student equity.
  • Ability to maintain the highest standard of personal, professional, and ethical conduct.
  • Ability to implement educational reform at the district, regional, or state level.
  • Skilled at positively influencing educational outcomes at a building, district, regional, or statewide scale
  • Skill in communicating effectively with parents and community members regarding educational improvement and research.
  • Ability to support the state’s goals for workforce diversity.
  • Knowledge of project development and management, task management, long-range planning, and program evaluation; has strong organization, writing, and facilitation skills. Projects will include working with employees, contractors, support staff, division partners, and school and district personnel.
  • Familiarity with districts within the ESD region.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience at the school, district, state, or regional level using data to result in changed outcomes for staff and students. Master’s in education, counseling, psychology, or other social science preferred. WSP/FBI criminal history background clearance required. Valid Washington State driver’s license and proof of liability insurance required.

 

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

Work is performed in an office environment; however, travel may be required for workshops or conference attendance. Lifts and carries a maximum of 30 pounds. Adequate manual and finger dexterity, hearing, speech, and vision are necessary to perform the essential functions of this position.

Hazards:  Those present in a normal office environment. Lifting and moving tables and chairs for workshop setup is a potential hazard if proper safety procedures are not adhered to. Routine travel may pose potential hazards including driving in inclement weather.
