Summary:

The Career Connected Learning/CTE Graduation Pathways specialist works within a statewide network of Career Connected Learning (CCL) partners (i.e. OSPI, AESD, community-based organizations, and industry partners) to support the delivery and expansion of state-level CCL initiatives, especially in hard to serve and regionally under-resourced communities.

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborates and works effectively as part of the larger NWESD 189 Teaching and Learning team and the state network of nine ESD based Career Connected Learning coordinators.
  • Work with Career Connected Learning Partners across the state to support the delivery and expansion of state-level Career Connected Learning Initiatives.
  • Work with regional Career Connected Learning partners, OSPI, and other ESD coordinators to develop and implement a communication system that builds awareness of a career pathways within the region and statewide.

School District Support:

  • Provide direct technical assistance to school district personnel to develop and implement CTE graduation pathways, and increase work-integrated, career connected learning, and worksite learning experiences.
  • Work directly with school districts to build and facilitate understanding of model frameworks, master scheduling, use of statewide equivalencies, dual credit agreements, industry certificates, and paid work experience to support increased opportunity for students.
  • Provide direct support within districts to educate teachers, counselors, and administrators on the Career Connect Washington (CCW) framework, implementation strategies, and resources available.
  • Provide technical assistance for school district administration, counselors, and educators on CCW/CTE data collection, reporting, and measurement protocols.
  • Coordinate with regional networks and intermediaries to host job fairs, workshops, and special presentations on CCW, CTE, and Career Launch opportunities.
  • Assist school districts to ensure equitable access to Career Connected Learning and CTE programs for underserved student populations.
  • In partnership with local school districts, and post-secondary partners, coordinate dual/concurrent enrollment related to Career Launch programs to ensure high school and postsecondary credits transfer.

Regional Collaboration:

  • Work collaboratively to provide technical assistance to program intermediaries and regional networks on curriculum development, K-12 education, work-integrated learning, and the CCW system.
  • Align activities with regional CCW network leadership and strategy to establish CCW infrastructure and encourage scaling of existing and growth of new career connected learning programs (including endorsement of existing programs).
  • Support regional CCW network to reach regional Career Launch enrollment and completion goals.
  • Work collaboratively with OSPI, higher education, and business and industry partners to align opportunities for students.
  • Support the development of clearly articulated programs of study aligned with in-demand jobs and careers.
  • Support the increase of paid worksite learning experiences for students, in collaboration with worksite learning coordinators, ensuring all youth employment laws and regulations and school requirements are followed (per state Work Based Learning Manual).

Communication:

  • Provide regular updates to OSPI, regional partners, school districts, and work-integrated learning advisory committee members regarding best practices related to CCL activities and programs.
  • Collaborate with fellow ESD coordinators and partners to identify and/or create training, materials, etc. to support school district implementation of CTE graduation pathways, Career Connect Learning, and Career Launch programs.
  • Work with school administration and worksite learning coordinators to ensure consistent communication, expectations, and expansion of opportunities for students.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Career and Technical Education related field, business, or a related field. Experience working in a Career and Technical Education setting, or a business-related field. Preference will be given to experience developing working partnerships and relationships across business, community-based organization, and schools. Demonstrated successful leadership skills in Career and Technical Education or business. High commitment to accomplishment and flexibility in work hours. Personal transportation and willingness to travel. WSP/FBI criminal history background clearance required. Valid Washington State driver’s license and proof of liability insurance required.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

Work is performed in an office environment; however, travel may be required for workshops or conference attendance. Lifts and carries a maximum of 30 pounds. Adequate manual and finger dexterity, hearing, speech, and vision are necessary to perform the essential functions of this position.

Hazards:  Those present in a normal office environment. Lifting and moving tables and chairs for workshop setup is a potential hazard if proper safety procedures are not adhered to.
