Summary:

This position serves as the primary point of contact for the NWESD 189 with the Cascade Bicycle Club.  This role will work to lead program implementation, delivery logistics, day-to-day operations and provide in-class Physical Education teacher support for participating school districts within the ESD.  They will work with key partners and internal and external stakeholders.

Essential Functions:

  • Recruit small to medium size school districts within NWESD 189 to implement the program
  • Act as the program representative within the NWESD 189 region.
  • Establish community partners within the region and work with the Cascade Bicycle Club (CBC)
  • Create, manage, and monitor delivery and pickup schedules between schools and districts.
  • Implement ESD contract deliverables as outlined in Exhibit A – Scope of Work and Deliverables of the CBC-ESD contract agreement.
  • Provide quarterly reports to the Statewide ESD-AESD Bicycle Education Project Manager and CBC
  • Track and manage program funds and budgets
  • Coordinate with the Statewide ESD-AESD Bicycle Education Project Manager to procure bicycles and trailers as the program scales regionally
  • Deliver trailers, bikes, and equipment to districts or directly to participating schools
  • Maintain the trailer and bikes with contracts with community partners or local bike shops
  • Support fleet management
  • Support the training of PE teachers on implementing the program
  • Coordinating with schools and districts with volunteers as needed
  • On-site support of PE teachers as needed, which may include working with students, distributing and assisting with materials such as helmets and bikes.
  • Replenishing curriculum materials, such as bikes, helmets, bike locks, curriculum posters, etc.
  • Provide data for evaluation plan to support CBC or the AESD Program Manager .
  • Provide input to and support implementation of the Earn a Bike program.

Qualifications:

AA Degree or equivalent work experience in education or related field. WSP/FBI criminal history background clearance required. Valid Washington State driver’s license and proof of liability insurance required.   Preferred qualifications include experience in teaching bicycling or other healthy activities to children, multicultural education, bike maintenance skills, and experience with operation towing vehicles.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

Work is performed approximately fifty percent (50%) in an office environment and approximately fifty percent (50%) traveling to districts, ESD’s, and other miscellaneous locations which can include outdoor work.  Lifts and carries a maximum of fifty (50) pounds including moving bicycles to /from storage or on/off of vehicles and trailers including during adverse weather.  May be some weekend and evening work.  Adequate manual and finger dexterity, hearing, speech, and vision are necessary to perform the essential functions of this position.

Hazards:  Potential hazards are present based on the fact that the position requires the incumbent to drive a significant amount. Hazards may include but are not limited to traveling alone, traveling with a trailer, driving in inclement weather conditions, varied road conditions, rush hour traffic, etc.
