Summary:
The Instructional Technology Specialist works in concert with educational service districts, the AESD, and OSPI to design and deliver Learning Management System (LMS) professional development to educators across the state, and Family Learning Management System support modules for school or district use.
Essential Functions:
- Coordinates with other educational service districts, the AESD, and OSPI to design and manage asynchronous professional development opportunities for educators using Canvas or other LMS platforms.
- Attends all planning and design meetings for the LMS project.
- Coordinates with other educational service districts, district partnerships, and OSPI personnel in support of statewide projects.
- Creates critical and timely professional development for teachers across the state.
- Provides technical and instructional support to NWESD school and district staff to aid with the implementation of LMS and other tools to be determined by the AESD and the NWESD.
- Assists educators in developing LMS peer networks for collaboration.
- Seeks new funding sources and assists with all grant-writing efforts as applicable for the purpose of maintaining programs and increasing participation.
- Participates in regularly scheduled meetings with ESD Coordinators and Directors for the purpose of conveying and/or receiving information to develop or enhance skills and knowledge.
- Supports programs and products associated with educational technology initiatives and projects for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes, integrating technology into curriculum, and/or providing professional development.
- Collaborates with a variety of groups and/or individuals for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes, integrating technology into curriculum and/or providing professional development.
- Designs educational technology related professional development that meets the requirements of state and federal mandates for the purpose of ensuring compliance with relevant regulations/guidelines.
- Coordinates the design, delivery and evaluation of staff development projects, grant requirements, and training efforts for the purpose of providing a variety of instructional technology teaching strategies to enhance teaching and student success.
- Presents and participates in leadership activities at local, state, regional, and national levels for the purpose of sharing best practices and maintaining visibility with those we work with and serve.
- Serves as a liaison between NWESD, regional districts, OSPI, statewide advisories, and other programs.
- Assists the ESD Coordinators and Directors in completing general program evaluations and other required reports for the purpose of maintaining compliance.
- Keeps abreast of developments within regional districts, NWESD, and state-level educational technology systems.
- Facilitates meetings with staff as necessary for productive learning and ensuring that successful ESD outcomes are met.
- Coaches teachers for the purpose of developing effective teacher-leaders within schools.
- Analyzes data from a variety of sources for the purpose of assisting with ongoing project planning, delivery, and reflection.
- Prepares a variety of materials for the purpose of providing written documentation, conveying information, and complying with NWESD and state guidelines.
- Maintains documents, files, and records for the purpose of providing accurate and timely information to NWESD while complying with district, state, and federal policies and regulations.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Knowledge of professional development/training practices appropriate to an adult audience.
- Ability to collaborate and work within teams at school, district, Educational Service District or state level.
- Knowledge of Washington educational/instructional technology standards and best practices for integration of technology in teaching and learning.
- Skill in using remote collaboration tools.
- Knowledge of differentiation strategies in the general education classroom.
- Knowledge of early learning programs and systems preferred.
- Ability to lead an educational reform activity at school, district, Educational Service District or state level.
- Knowledge of issues regarding equity for marginalized and family groups including ability, identification, race, ethnicity and gender orientation.
- Successful leadership skills in school reform and/or effective educational practices.
- Ability to successfully coach practicing teachers.
- Ability to deliver professional development/training in research-based instructional or assessment practices.
- Ability to work flexibly with diverse individuals and/or groups in a wide variety of circumstances.
- Ability to effectively communicate with persons of varied backgrounds and educational levels.
- Ability to analyze issues, problem solve, and create action plans both independently and with a team.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree, significant successful experience teaching required. Experience with the use of technology and learning management systems. Demonstrated experience teaching curriculum and/or assessment workshops as well as experience managing workshops and special events. Personal transportation and willingness to travel. WSP/FBI criminal history background clearance required. Valid Washington State driver’s license and proof of liability insurance required.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
Work is performed in an office environment; however, travel may be required for workshops or conference attendance. Lifts and carries a maximum of 30 pounds. Adequate manual and finger dexterity, hearing, speech, and vision are necessary to perform the essential functions of this position.
Hazards: Those present in a normal office environment. Lifting and moving tables and chairs for workshop setup is a potential hazard if proper safety procedures are not adhered to. Routine travel may pose potential hazards including driving in inclement weather.
