Summary:

The Early Learning Education and Family Services Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and facilitating professional learning opportunities and providing on-going technical support for the successful implementation of Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP) Performance Standards. The position requires specialized knowledge in early childhood education, family support and partnership principles, and health and nutrition support services for young children and families.

Essential Functions:

  • Implement assigned program services for the purpose of ensuring that stated objectives are achieved, and relevant policies and procedures are addressed with efficiency and fidelity.
  • Implement a strengths-based approach when working with leadership, staff, families, and community partners to strengthen instructional practices.
  • Collaborate with teams to establish goals and objectives.
  • Establish and maintain an annual professional development plan/calendar.
  • Facilitate individual, small group, and large group meetings and training both in-person and using on-line formats.
  • Provide training and coaching to support Early Achievers, Mobility Mentoring®, Creative Curriculum® and MyTeachingStrategies® GOLD®, and other program specific areas.
  • Collect, enter, analyze data to support ongoing continuous quality improvement.
  • Conduct program observations, desk audits, and use monthly reports to monitor program deliverables and provide feedback on an on-going basis.
  • Support implementation of performance standards, regulations, policies and procedures, contract deliverables, documentation and reporting as part of a team.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with families, staff and community and school district partners. Foster trust with colleagues, subcontractors, and partners.
  • Work collaboratively with site coordinators, teachers, assistant teachers, family support specialists, and others to meet the needs of the individual child with concern for age, interest, disabilities, special talents, cultural backgrounds, and individual styles.
  • Provide support and guidance to staff around SMART goal setting.
  • Provide support and guidance on family engagement activities, socializations, policy council events, and health advisory meetings.
  • Actively participate in the on-going and continuous quality improvement process by reflecting on current practices, identifying opportunities for growth, supporting staff in implementing goals, assessing impacts and re-evaluating.
  • Coordinate Health Services Advisory Committee meetings with school district and community partners. Participate in community meetings as requested.
  • Coordinate all vision, hearing and nutrition screenings and referrals in partnership with site-based family support specialists.
  • Review, evaluate and interpret health records to assess needs and to plan and implement special programs or activities to meet these needs and to assure high quality comprehensive services.
  • Develop partnerships and initiate contracts to support comprehensive services.
  • Assist with outreach, recruitment, and enrollment activities.
  • Collect and maintain records and documentation.
  • Participate in the annual ECEAP program review.
  • Organize and follow through on multiple tasks, address concerns as they arise, meet deadlines, and plan for future needs and goals.

  • Ability to utilize technology and computer software (e.g., MS Suite/Office or other applications) to manage workload, organize project deliverables, distribute, and monitor project resources, maintain timely communication with project collaborators, and produce required reports.
  • Ability to perform duties with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with adult learners from diverse socio-economic, educational, and experiential backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of effective parenting, intervention, and interviewing techniques, crisis intervention, child abuse and neglect identification and laws.
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines and schedules: set priorities, work as part of a team, be flexible in changing conditions, make quick and accurate decisions, work with multiple priorities, deal with frequent interruptions, maintain confidentiality, facilitate communication between persons with frequently divergent positions.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field or a bachelor’s degree with the equivalent of 30 college quarter credits in early childhood education required. A minimum of two years working with young children in a group setting, experience as an early learning coach, consultant, mentor, or trainer. Experience working within an ECEAP or Head Start program.

WSP/FBI criminal history background clearance required. Valid Washington State driver’s license and proof of liability insurance required. Must provide proof of tuberculosis (TB) testing or treatment, and proof of measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) immunization or proof of immunity.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

Work is primarily performed in office and early learning environments; however, travel may be required for district visits throughout Western Washington, workshops, or conference attendance. Work extended and flexible hours as necessary. Lifts and carries a maximum of 30 pounds. Adequate manual and finger dexterity, hearing, speech, and vision are necessary to perform the essential functions of this position.

Hazards: Potential hazards are present based on the fact that the position requires the incumbent to drive a significant amount.  Hazards may include but are not limited to traveling alone, driving in inclement weather conditions, varied road conditions, rush hour traffic, etc.
