Position Summary

Summary:

Teacher for the Open Doors Youth Reengagement Program, an alternative high school pathway that provides a safe and encouraging environment where students can complete high school, obtain their GED, or retrieve credits. This position involves developing and implementing individualized educational programs that address the educational needs of secondary-age students with severe behavioral disabilities or the remediation of social/emotional, educational, and prevocational/vocational skill deficits for a group of at-risk students in an alternative setting.

Qualifications

Required: Bachelor’s Degree and teacher preparation program; Washington State teaching certificate with Biology, Chemistry, Earth and Space Science, Physics, or General Science endorsement; Current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain; WSP/FBI criminal history background clearance; Valid Washington State driver’s license and proof of liability insurance.

Preferred: Secondary Math endorsement; Special Education endorsement; Experience working in special education.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted which provides the skills, knowledge and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.

Employment Conditions and Benefits

6 hours per day, 1:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Monday - Friday, 185 days per year

4 days per week at Marysville Open Doors, 1 day per week at Skagit Open Doors

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
Work is performed in a high school setting; Travel may be required on occasion. Must be physically capable of performing de-escalation techniques. Lifts and carries a maximum of 40 pounds. Adequate manual and finger dexterity, hearing, speech, and vision are necessary to perform the essential functions of this position. This position is not eligible to telecommute.

Hazards: Due to the nature of the population of the school, hazards may include but are not limited to exposure to weapons, threats, verbal abuse, hitting, fighting, throwing of objects, etc.

$54,256.80 - $106,189.70
