PreK-K Collaboration

Connecting PreK & Kindergarten

The transition between PreK and Kindergarten is an important step along the P-3 Alignment continuum.  Historically however, few PreK programs and school districts had a common language for discussing school readiness expectations.  Luckily this is changing!  With increased attention on the importance of early learning and the rollout of WaKIDS, Washington state’s kindergarten entry process, many PreK programs and school districts recognize the need to partner.  Over the last several years school districts and PreK programs around the region have engaged in common learning and the development of shared practices to increase the likelihood of student success.  Watch this short video to hear what teachers and administrators are saying about this work.
