Summary:
This position performs a variety of tasks related to the day-to-day operations of the Bicycle Education Program including trailer transport, bike and trailer maintenance and repair, delivery logistics, and in-class teacher support for participating school districts within the NWESD.
Essential Functions:

- Acts as a program representative within the NWESD region.
- Supports the Bicycle Education Specialist in establishing community partners and routinely interacts with the Cascade Bicycle Club (CBC).
- Supports the Bicycle Education Specialist with creating, managing, and monitoring equipment delivery and pickup schedules between schools and districts.
- Implements deliverables as outlined in the CBC-NWESD contract.
- Provides data necessary for preparing CBC quarterly reports or evaluation plans as needed by the CBC and AESD Program Manager.
- Delivers trailers, bikes, and equipment to participating schools or districts.
- Maintains the program’s trailer and bike fleet including both emergency and routine maintenance.
- Assists with training of Physical Education (PE) teachers on program implementation.
- May coordinate with schools and districts for volunteer support as needed.
- Provides on-site support for PE teachers when needed, which may include the distribution of equipment, and/or working directly with students.
- Replenishes curriculum materials: bikes, helmets, bike locks, curriculum posters, etc.

- Ability to work with a project manager to scale the bicycle project regionally.
- Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism, prioritize and manage tasks efficiently, and effectively adapt to change.
- Ability to use patience, empathy, and encouragement in creating a safe and supportive space for kids to learn.
- Skill in effectively communicating in both oral and written format.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, school district staff, parents, vendors, and the public.
- Ability to apply equity-focused practices and cultural awareness to effectively serve and engage diverse populations.
- Skill in bike maintenance and repair, or ability to learn.
- Ability to drive a trailer behind different vehicles that may include vans and trucks.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Work experience in education or related field preferred. WSP/FBI criminal history background clearance required. Valid Washington State driver’s license and proof of liability insurance required. Preferred qualifications include experience in teaching bicycling or other healthy activities to children.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
Work is performed approximately twenty percent (20%) in an office environment and approximately eighty percent (80%) traveling to districts, ESD’s, and other miscellaneous locations which can include outdoor work. Lifts and carries a maximum of fifty (50) pounds, including moving bicycles to/from storage or on/off vehicles and trailers, including during adverse weather. May be some weekend and evening work. Adequate manual and finger dexterity, hearing, speech, and vision are necessary to perform the essential functions of this position. This position is not telecommute-eligible.
Hazards: Potential hazards are present because the position requires the incumbent to drive a significant amount. Hazards may include but are not limited to traveling alone, traveling with a trailer, driving in inclement weather conditions, varied road conditions, rush hour traffic, etc.
