Summary:

The Lead Science Kit Restock Clerk stocks and prepares science kits for the NWESD 189  Science Materials Center (SMC) Cooperative, as well as acts as lead worker in the absence of the Science Materials Center Manager.

Essential Functions:

Duties listed are intended to provide a summary of the major duties and responsibilities of this position. Incumbent(s) may not perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional duties not listed, but within the general scope of the position.

  • Restocks, constructs, and maintains elementary, middle, and high school science kits.
  • Updates and maintains kit inventory, refurbishment, prep and pull sheets.
  • Updates Missing Items Report for each kit refurbishment cycle.
  • Trains new personnel on kit refurbishment procedures.
  • Creates packing instruction boards and determines data requirements for refurbishment documents of new kit titles.
  • Sets standards for material viability.
  • Prepares materials and creates sets for refurbishment.
  • Supervises and coordinates activities in the absence of manager.
  • Receives and inventories science kit materials into SMC warehouse.
  • Schedules purchase and delivery.
  • Provides delivery of living organisms (plants and animals) and science kits to SMC cooperative members as scheduled.
  • Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe work area.
  • Acts as a lead worker for on-call staff.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • The field of assignment sufficient to perform completely and accurately the full scope of responsibility as illustrated by example in this position description.
  • Knowledge of departmental and/or program objectives.
  • Basic computer operations.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written format.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.

Qualifications:

High school graduate or equivalent. Valid Washington State Driver’s License and proof of liability insurance.  Driving record must be acceptable for operation of agency vehicle per NWESD policy.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

Work is performed in a warehouse environment.  Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Prolonged standing may be required along with climbing, stooping, kneeling, pulling and pushing. Adequate manual and finger dexterity, hearing, speech, and vision are necessary to perform the essential functions of this position.

HazardsThose present in a normal warehouse environment; no known significant.  Any travel may pose potential hazards including driving in inclement weather.
