Exciting work is happening at the NWESD (Northwest Educational Service District) in early learning! I recently bumped into Maureen Hodge, NWESD Early Learning Coordinator and she relayed how thrilled she is to support early learning work in our districts as they dive deeper into practices around inclusion. In fact, eight of our member districts applied for and received grant funding for Inclusive Transitional Kindergarten, to start or continue their work in understanding their community partners and ensuring that there is no wrong door for families as they consider placement options for their child(ren).
In addition, Maureen shared that the NWESD is hosting more professional development opportunities in person this year! Coming up on November 5th is the NWESD’s preschool through 2nd grade Early Learning Summit back in person for the fifth year (after being postponed last spring)! It will be an amazing opportunity for administrators, providers, practitioners, and those just wanting to connect, learn, and engage in networking and learning that help us create spaces where all young students can Belong, Be Loved, and Be Learners!
The Early Learning department at the NWESD is working toward a vision where all children have high-quality early learning experiences that support optimal growth and development, leading to success in school and life.
