NWESD 189 Paraeducator Fundamental Course of Study (FCS) Certificate Options

The Paraeducator Fundamental Course of Study (FCS) is the foundational training to the certificate program that all paraeducators must receive. The FCS is comprised of four learning areas, that contain 12 units total and several learning objectives in each [FCS Unit Outline].

School districts are required to provide Four days (28 hours) of training on the Fundamental Course of Study to their paraeducators. More information can be found at www.pesb.wa.gov.

NWESD Provided Training of Units 

School District Online Package

School districts can purchase access to all 12 FCS units. The Canvas course will allow districts to train all of their paraeducators in a way that best accommodates their district schedules. The cost for the annual access to the training is $1,600.

Individual FCS Unit Access

The NWESD is pleased to offer all 12 of the Paraeducator FCS units online. Paraeducators can register for each unit individually to meet their needs. Each unit varies in the number of hours. There is a minimal registration fee per unit.  Courses are listed on the right side bar menu of this web page – registration is handled through pdEnroller.
