Everyone is sensitive to the fact that teachers have so much on their plates. And introducing new science standards on top of it all is tricky, especially because the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS/WSSLS) represent a significant shift from our old standards. Additionally, teachers rely on building principals to advocate for their learning needs and to help navigate instructional changes at the building level.
To help building principals better support transition to — and implementation of — the NGSS/WSSLS, Achieve Inc. has released an “Overview for Principals” that includes links to many valuable resources that can help build not only principals’ understanding of the new science standards, but can also be used collaboratively with teachers to help them learn more about them.
