Workforce Diversification & Equity

We at the NWESD aspire to be a racially and culturally inclusive organization that strives to reflect the diversity of the school communities we serve. The Workforce Diversification and Equity Administrator leads the Teachers for the People Program, a community-rooted educator preparation program focused on increasing the number of diverse, justice-oriented teachers in early learning and K–3 classrooms. In addition, the Workforce Diversification and Equity Administrator provides broad and individualized professional development and consultation necessary for your students and staff to be successful and their most authentic self in all education environments. 

Services Provided

Community and Student Engagement

  • Create and support listening sessions with students, families, and community partners
  • Advise on how to center community voice in decision-making and program design.
  • Help districts build trust and stronger relationships with tribal nations, cultural organizations, and advocacy groups.

Hiring and Workforce Diversification

  • Support inclusive hiring practices from job posting language to interview panels.
  • Advise on retention strategies for educators of color and staff with underrepresented identities.
  • Help districts track progress toward workforce diversity goals.

Data Inquiry and Equity Audits

  • Help districts disaggregate and analyze data by race, gender, language, ability, etc., to identify disparities in access, outcomes, and experiences.
  • Conduct equity audits of school climate, curriculum, staffing, and engagement practices.
  • Co-design improvement strategies based on findings and community priorities.

Professional Learning and Capacity Building

  • Facilitate equity-centered trainings on topics such as implicit bias, culturally responsive pedagogy, inclusive leadership, or restorative practices.
  • Coach district leaders and educators to reflect on their roles in advancing equity.
  • Build internal capacity by co-developing tools, protocols, and facilitation guides for ongoing learning.

Policy and Systems Review

  • Analyze existing policies for potential bias or unintended inequities (e.g., discipline, grading, hiring).
  • Support revisions to ensure alignment with equity goals, legal standards, and community values.
  • Advise on implementation of equity frameworks or culturally responsive education plans.
