Ed here! I love taking the summer months to intentionally relax and recharge my batteries; I hope you are doing the same. As August rolls around and educators begin recalibrating and planning for the next school year, it’s a good time to remind you about an opportunity for support, collaboration, and innovating your teaching practice: the NWESD Fellows Network!
- Teachers, do you want a forward-thinking network of collaboration that can support you?
- Principals, do you want well-prepared teachers to help inform building-level conversations and planning?
- District leaders, do you want people who are ready to support your districts in the ongoing improvement in student learning? Well, then you are just in time to hear about the Washington State Fellows Program for Early Learning, ELA (English Language Arts), Math, and Science!
A little background behind the Fellows Network…it began in 2013 and has seen hundreds of Fellows through one-, two-, or three-year learning cycles. As part of their commitment to the program, each Fellow creates an action plan capturing how they will use their role to create positive change in their schools or systems. These plans can vary in scope, with some focused on a single classroom, and others focused on district-wide programs.
Areas of focus for Fellow’s learning include equity, culturally responsive pedagogy, leadership, deeper learning in content areas, and connections to other state initiatives, but are not limited to these!
Many Fellows choose to continue beyond the first three years of the core Fellows program and become Emeritus Fellows. Staying connected as an Emeritus Fellow keeps them involved with the network as they continue to learn, assist, and lead, while taking on additional projects, speaking engagements, and committee assignments at the regional and state level.
The Fellows Network welcomes all educators, drawing strength from the diverse backgrounds, experiences, and viewpoints of participants. If you have any questions, please reach out to the NWESD coordinator associated with the network you are interested in.
