Summary:

Provides assistance to custodian and facilities manager with routine tasks.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides routine landscape irrigation for plants, shrubs, grasses, and trees.
  • Provides assistance with renovation of landscape areas by removing weeds.
  • Provides trimming, pruning, and upkeep of flowers, shrubs, and trees.
  • Assists with keeping parking lot clean and orderly.
  • Provides assistance to move equipment, furniture, stock items, etc. in facility.
  • Performs related duties as assigned. Related duties may not specifically be listed but are within the general occupational series and responsibility level typically associated with the employee’s classification of work.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Ability to stand and walk on level and uneven/slippery surfaces.
  • Ability to twist, bend, push, pull, lift and carry items weighing 30 pounds or less.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and effective communication.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, and carryout assignments.

Qualifications:

Must be at least 16 years of age. There are no specific licenses or certifications required for this position. WSP criminal history background clearance required.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

Work is performed primarily in an outdoor environment with full exposure to the elements. Lifts and carries a maximum of 30 pounds.  Adequate manual and finger dexterity, hearing, speech, and vision are necessary to perform the essential functions of this position.

Hazards:  Those present in a normal outdoor environment; no known significant hazards.
