Summary:

Stock and prepare science kits for the Science Materials Center (SMC) Cooperative.

Essential Functions:

Duties listed are intended to provide a summary of the major duties and responsibilities of this position. Employee(s) may not perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional duties not listed, but within the general scope of the position.

  • Restock, construct and maintain elementary, middle, and high school science kits.
  • Make determination of material viability to reuse or replace.
  • Prepare materials and create sets for refurbishment.
  • Perform quarterly inventory of supplies.
  • Restock new product as necessary.
  • Maintain environments for living organisms (plants and animals).
  • Provide delivery of living organisms (plants and animals) and science kits to SMC cooperative members as scheduled.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Knowledge of departmental and/or program objectives.
  • Basic computer operation skills.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written format.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.

Qualifications:

WSP criminal history background clearance required. If employee will be driving as a function of this job, valid Washington State Driver’s License and proof of liability insurance. Driving record must be acceptable for operation of agency vehicle per NWESD policy.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

Work is performed in a warehouse environment.  Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.  Prolonged standing may be required along with climbing, stooping, kneeling, pulling and pushing.  Adequate manual and finger dexterity, hearing, speech, and vision are necessary to perform the essential functions of this position.

HazardsThose present in a normal warehouse environment; no known significant.  Any travel may pose potential hazards including driving in inclement weather.
