Summary:
Provides assistance to Facilities/Grounds Maintenance Custodian and Facilities Manager with routine janitorial and maintenance tasks.
Essential Functions:
Duties listed are intended to provide a summary of the major duties and responsibilities of this position. Incumbent(s) may not perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional duties not listed, but within the general scope of the position.
- Provides routine landscape irrigation for plants, shrubs, grasses, and trees.
- Provides assistance with renovation of landscape areas by removing weeds.
- Provides trimming, pruning, and upkeep of flowers, shrubs, and trees.
- Empties trash receptacles and bags trash for proper disposal.
- Helps stock adequate paper, meeting room, and custodial supplies.
- Cleans restrooms and restocks paper and soap supplies.
- Dusts, vacuums carpets, mops floors, and washes windows.
- Assists with disassembly and assembly of cubicles/workstations and panels/components.
- Performs snow/ice removal as appropriate.
- Provides assistance to move equipment, furniture, stock items, etc. in facility
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Ability to stand and walk on level and uneven/slippery surfaces.
- Ability to twist, bend, push, pull, lift and carry items weighing 50 pounds or less.
- Ability to use independent judgment and effective communication.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, and carryout assignments.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to use applicable hand and power tools.
- Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
- Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
Qualifications:
Must be at least 16 years of age. There are no specific licenses or certifications required for this position.
WSP criminal history background clearance required.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. The duties of the above position require the ability to operate basic custodial, electrical, and carpentry equipment and/or tools, pushing, pulling, walking, stooping, bending, crawling, reaching, twisting, and climbing. May require heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects over 50 pounds. Travel may be required on occasion. Adequate manual and finger dexterity, hearing, speech, and vision is necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
Hazards: Potential hazards exist in working with chemicals in various cleaning agents and exposure to germs associated with waste products.
