Due to the need for thorough sanitation between appointments, NWESD fingerprinting services are currently limited. Please do not bring anyone with you when you come to be printed. If you are bringing children, please ensure you have someone to supervise them in the lobby during your appointment.

Fingerprinting Services

Fingerprinting is mandatory for anyone with regular, unsupervised access to children, including those applying for certificates and those working in certified or classified positions. NWESD offers digital fingerprinting services, which use inkless technology to create high-quality prints. These digital prints are sent directly to the Washington State Patrol. After further review by the FBI, the fingerprint records are kept by the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) in Olympia.

To be fingerprinted at NWESD, you will need:

  • Picture ID (driver’s license)
  • Appropriate payment as outlined below
  • Expect the process to take approximately 15-30 minutes

Fingerprinting is available by appointment, only, and on weekdays between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. We do not accept walk-ins.

Fingerprinting Fees

Washington State Patrol processing fee – $50.00

The NWESD fingerprint fee – $35.00

Total Fee – $85.00

The forms of payment accepted are:

  • Credit or Debit Cards
  • School District Purchase Order
  • NO CASH, CHECKS OR MONEY ORDERS

NWESD uses the Live Scan digital system to capture fingerprints. If your fingerprints are poor quality (e.g., worn or with fine ridges) and cannot be read satisfactorily, they may be rejected by the Washington State Patrol (WSP) or the FBI. If your prints are rejected, we will offer one free reprint. If the reprint still doesn’t meet quality standards, you will need to visit the WSP office in Olympia, where they can take and guarantee your prints.

Individuals who wish to request a copy of their fingerprint results must submit a request to OSPI in Olympia. OSPI Fingerprint Records Forms and Resources
