General

DSHS food, cash, medical resource page – helpful “how to” links and quick links to resources

FindHelp.org – Can use for any region to find help for food, housing, transportation, health, care, education, work, and legal.

Northwest Youth Services (Whatcom, Skagit, and Island counties) – Centers and programs to help homeless youth. Short-term housing, personal items, job help, food, etc.

Career

Career Connect NW – Connecting students with jobs/careers/employers in the region.

Worksource – For youth ages 14-24; Career counseling, training, education, resources, etc.

Evergreen Goodwill – Job training and education.

Vocational Rehabilitation (WADSHS) – Helping prepare for, finding and keeping a job.

Job Corps

Year Up – Free tuition, job training, eligible for college credit

Honest Jobs – Employment help for those with a record

Northwest Workforce Council – Career planning/coaching, truck driver training, other programs for job skills

Food Worker Card

Education/School

Open Doors – Diploma, credit retrieval, GED; Requirements – under 21, but at least 16 years old, not met HS grad requirements, significantly behind in credits, or has never attended 9th grad and has earned zero (0) HS credits.

Northwest Educational Service District 189 (NWESD189) – K-12 Prevention, Intervention, Mental Health Services

WISe (Wraparound with Intensive Services) – Treatment team for youth with complex behavioral needs and their families.

SEAMAR – Behavioral health, dental health, medical, preventative health services/resources.

Planned Parenthood

PeaceHealth Behavioral Health Services

Pioneer Human Service – Short-term mental health stabilization, including Skagit Community Detox, Snohomish County Diversion Center, and Whatcom Community Detox.

RxLess – Prescription savings program

Charlie Health – Online, intensive mental health care for people ages 11-49. Immediate openings, flexible night and weekend options. Take most insurance and Medicaid; scholarships and financial assistance available.

Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisors (SHIBA)

Sunrise Services – Crisis line 800-584-3578 (same as Unity Care NW), outpatient counseling services, jail transition services, support groups.

Food/Nutrition

Nutrition First – Geared to low income families for pre-natal and early childhood nutrition help and education.

The Village Cooks – Sign up to get matched with a local person that likes to cook and will deliver meals to families with food insecurity.

Housing/Utilities

PSE Home Energy Lifeline Program – Assistance with paying energy bills.

Diversion Cash Assistance (WADSHS) – Temporary financial assistance for those who don’t want TANF

Secret Harbor – Residential Treatment

Homelessness Prevention (Whatcom/Island/Skagit Counties)

Opportunity Council – Several programs to help with childcare, money, housing, utilities, and education.

Blue Skies for Children – Back2School Boost and Winter Warm Up, by appointment only; Need proof of low income and an ID; 6-18 years old.

Home Free – Reunites runaways, 12-21 years of age, with their family. Helps find alternative housing.

LGBTQIA+

Queer Youth Services – Resource connections for queer youth. Trans Fashion Treasury: provides gender-affirming items at no cost.

PFLAG

Washington State LGBTQ Commission

Point of Pride – Scholarships and funds for transition surgeries, HRT, and Electrolysis. Free chest binders.
