The first part of this course, led by Hannah Smith – a licensed trauma therapist, certified interpersonal neurobiologist, and holder of a degree in special education – dives into the two paths to reactivity in the brain (frustration/anger/anxiety). Attendees will learn how to quickly assess the type of threat and learn methods to more effectively address it that are geared toward supporting neurodivergent <a href="http://students. br/br/The" target="_blank" title="students.

The second part of the course, lead by the NWESD Safety Center staff, explores the symptoms and behaviors associated with ADHD, such as impulsivity, low frustration tolerance, rigid thinking, and more. Additionally, the training addresses how to differentiate between ADHD-related behavior and signs of more serious issues, such as a potential threat or violent behavior.
