About ECEAP at NWESD 189
The Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP) is a preschool program funded by Washington State’s Department of Children, Youth, and Family (DCYF).
For School Districts
Currently, this program is only offered in Ferndale School District and Bellingham Public Schools. The NWESD is looking to expand our ECEAP services in partnership with other school districts. If you have questions or would like to discuss, please contact Maureen Hodge at mhodge@nwesd.org.
What’s offered?
- Classes are five days per week, six hours per day.
- Classes follow the school district calendar.
- Children are in an inclusive learning environment.
This program is open to children who are at least 3 years old but who had not yet turned 5 as of Aug. 31, 2024.
Currently, the family must reside in the Bellingham or Ferndale school district boundaries.
Families who meet at least one of the following criteria may qualify:
- Living on a limited income, as defined by ECEAP.
- Child participated in Early Head Start.
- Child has an IFSP (Individualized Family Service Plan).
- Child has an IEP (Individualized Education Plan).
