Hamming named Director of Teaching and Learning

Elizabeth Hamming is the new director of teaching and learning for the Northwest Educational Service District 189.

Hamming steps into this newly created position as the Teaching and Learning Department continues to grow. Over the past few years, the department’s staff has nearly doubled and programs and initiatives within the department have grown from eight to 14. More growth is on the way, according to department leaders.

This new position is part of a team working to support the department and innovating to meet the needs of the school districts in the NWESD region, Hamming said.

“I’m excited to work with a committed team to support educators and families in our region,” she said.

Hamming has worked for NWESD for two years. Until now, she served as the regional literacy coordinator within the Teaching and Learning Department. Prior to starting at NWESD, she served as the director of teaching and learning with the Lynden School District. In the past, she also served as a high school librarian, an English teacher, and an adjunct faculty member at Western Washington University.
