This summer, in partnership with the division of vocational rehabilitation the NWESD placed 25 students from 12 school districts in 40-120 hour paid work based learning experiences throughout the region! For many students this was their first real paycheck and first experience to the labor market. Seven of these students were offered permanent employment!
There are many moving parts and a few hurdles to overcome to make this opportunity possible. The incredible team of participating businesses rallied and stepped up to provide these great experiences.
The NWESD wants to extend a HUGE thank you to the participating companies and some key people that made it possible for students to participate in these amazing opportunities!
THANK YOU:
Nathan Vanderpol of Bayshore Office Products, Inc.
Kevin Corrigan and Aina Kangas of Nichols Brothers Boat Builders
John Harris of Everett Ship Repair
Jon Jones and Lorraine Frost of Skookum Contract Services
Reneth Hills, Christina Adams, and Ed Healy of Skookum Contract Services
Lindsay Fisher of Northwest Services and @LithtexNW
Wayne Barrett, Marla Reed and Paul Carter of Concrete School District
The above individuals were vital to this meaningful work and they also had a great team that embraced this opportunity. This could not have happened with all the supervisors and staff of the participating organizations.
Thank you all for making this possible,
Brian McClay and the NWESD
