4000 – Member District Communications/Public Relations

Member Districts

The NWESD 189 shall strive to maintain effective two-way communication channels with its thirty-five member school districts. Such channels shall enable the Board and staff to interpret the NWESD 189’s performance and needs to member districts and provide a means for them to express their needs and expectations to the Board and staff.

The Superintendent shall establish and maintain a communication process within the NWESD 189 region and between it and member districts. This will include regular meetings of Superintendents Advisory Committee (SAC), pursuant to its by-laws.

Media Relations

The NWESD 189 is a logical contact point for radio, television, and newspaper reporters as well as other individuals seeking official regional statements. The Superintendent shall be designated as the chief spokesperson for the NWESD 189 for dealing with press contacts, news releases, and requests to speak.

NWESD 189 staff shall attempt to contact the Superintendent, or designee, prior to release of news items, contact with the news media, or responding to requests to speak on behalf of the NWESD 189.
