What is the Dual Credit Database?

This regional database is a tool for people to look up what Career & Technical Education (CTE) dual credit courses are offered in the Northwest Educational Service District 189 (NWESD) region in high schools and colleges.  The database focuses on schools in Island, San Juan, Skagit, Snohomish, and Whatcom county with plans to expand in the future. This tool is both searchable and filterable, with specific filter options established by District, High School, Credit Type, Career Cluster, College, and Articulation Status.

Who Can Use the Database?

Regional Dual Credit Database provides access to dual credit information for several different groups who can use the information in different ways.

  • Students and their Families

    • Students and their families can use this tool to find out which CTE Dual Credit opportunities are available at their school, how those credits could be used if they were to attend the articulating college, and access links to the relevant program page at the college. College credits earned through CTE Dual Credit may be applicable in multiple degrees/programs; the Applicable College Program column is meant to show an example of our a course could be used at the articulating college.  Students should always work with their counselor/advisor for course planning and how college credits can benefit them.
  • School Counselors

    • School counselors can see how courses students are taking build toward a pathway, potentially supporting their efforts to advise students in a meaningful way. Using the Career Clusters filter provides counselors with a simple way to get a snapshot of courses that may help a student progress in their stated career pathway.
  • CTE Directors, Staff, and Teachers

    • CTE directors, staff, and teachers can view what is currently articulated not only within their district, but also in other districts around the NWESD region. By comparing the Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP) codes of current CTE courses, with CIP codes for existing articulations in the Regional Dual Credit Database, K-12 staff can get a good idea of what articulations may be available to establish moving forward.
