WaKIDS DataState-funded full-day kindergarten is rolling out all over Washington, with almost 72% of kindergarten students participating this year. To assist administrators and teachers in implementing a full-day kindergarten program, OSPI developed the Washington State Full-Day Kindergarten Guide. Still in draft form, this guide discusses principles child development, provides sample schedules and outlines elements of a high quality kindergarten learning environment.

Bellingham Public Schools' Director of Teaching and Learning for Early Childhood Education, Kristi Dominguez was one of the primary developers the guide, along with her counterpart Laurie Sjolund, P-3 Literacy and Early Learning Program Administrator for the Sumner School District. District administrators and kindergarten teachers from around the state have also provided input.

OSPI has current information on their website discussing the funding for FDK programs in the next two years, eligibility and program elements, and providing clarification of the RCW and WACs related to this change.
