From Our Superintendent

Larry Francois,
Superintendent

On behalf of the Board of Directors and staff of the Northwest Educational Service District 189 (NWESD), I am pleased to submit this annual report for the 2018-19 school year.  This report includes key information about our region as well as specific highlights of NWESD collaboration with our educational partners.

The information that follows contains a range of data sets that help tell the stories of the five counties, 35 school districts, 10,000 professional educators, 440 schools, and 170,000 students of the NWESD region.  Within those data are stories that are cause for celebration and pride at the accomplishments of the young people across our region.  The data also demonstrate that for many of our students, their stories of opportunity, success, and belonging are still being written.  That is the work we are collectively called to each and every day.

Those of us who work at educational service districts are fond of saying that “service” is our middle name.  We share a deep commitment to our educational partners and strive on a daily basis to provide value-added, timely, and equity-driven support through the dozens of programs and services we offer.

Together We Can is not just a superficial slogan for NWESD staff; rather, it is a mindset and commitment that drives our mission, vision, values, and goals.  We are honored by the continued opportunity to promote and influence the important work taking place across our region, and we are humbled to have a hand in writing your next stories of success and accomplishment.
