Support Programs
The NWESD offers a number of support services for school districts in the northwest region, in addition to some state-wide services that expand outside the NWESD region. Many of these services are funded by grants or fees for service.
Autism Outreach Project
As a State Needs Project through the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, in collaboration with the Early Support for Infants and Toddlers program in the Department of Early Learning and NWESD, the Autism Outreach Project (AOP) serves the entire state of Washington. The AOP provides statewide training, resources, information, and reference materials for school districts, parents, agencies, and students with autism spectrum disorders.
Early Learning
The NWESD early learning program is a five county project aimed to identify and fund services assuring all children enter kindergarten with the skills they need to succeed in school and in life.
Migrant Education Regional Office (MERO)
The NWESD MERO office serves western Washington, assisting school district staff in their efforts to improve migrant student achievement by providing high quality professional development opportunities and technical assistance.
Prevention Center
The Prevention Center promotes student academic success by providing leadership, support, and resources to schools to help them create a safe and supportive learning environment.
School Nurse Corps
The School Nurse Corps Program is a statewide program funded by the legislature to provide nursing services to school districts with little or no nursing services.
Special Programs & Services (SP&S)
The SP&S department assists local school districts, their staff, students, families, and the community in meeting the needs of diverse learners consistent with best practices. We are committed to improving student learning to meet state and local standards by collaboratively providing quality leadership, consultation, technical assistance, general information and resources, coordinated programs and services, and professional development.
