The Snohomish County Children’s Commission and Snohomish County ECEAP are presenting a Forum about ACEs – Adverse Childhood Experiences. Come attend this free session and learn how you can support your children to have productive and hopeful lives.

Adverse Childhood Experiences: Impact on Wellbeing and Education

Incredible advancements in brain research and health studies have opened the door to understanding how adverse childhood experiences shape the individual, drive high cost social problems, interferes with learning, and becomes an extremely powerful determination of health across the lifespan. You will learn:

  • What the newest brain research and epidemiology tell us about adverse childhood experience and the developing child;
  • Typical patterns of physical, mental, academic, and behavioral health outcomes across the lifespan;
  • How the individual effects of adverse childhood experience in one generation can lead to escalation of child abuse, substance abuse, and other major social problems over the course of several generations; and
  • How you can make a difference.
