Northwest Regional Data Center (NWRDC)
The Northwest Regional Data Center (NWRDC) is one of seven regional data centers located around the state. NWRDC supports 45 school districts, NWESD, PSESD, and the WSIPC Finance Office plus three small programs. The NWRDC staff support member districts using the WSIPC Legacy and WESPaC Student and Business software.
Our Mission:
Providing Quality Information Services to Washington State School Districts and Private Schools
Service Area:
The NWRDC services schools from the Canadian border to the San Juan Islands and south to Sumner in Pierce County. Our members represent more than 183,500 student FTE which makes NWRDC the largest of the seven regional data centers.
Location:
Our office and training/meeting facilities are co-located with WSIPC at 2121 West Casino Road, Everett, WA. The NWRDC is the only regional data center not housed at an ESD and with its Everett location affords us the ability to cover such a wide area.
Governance and Staff:
The NWRDC is part of NWESD and governed by their Board policies. In addition the Advisory Board is comprised of the 45 member superintendents who nominate and elect a five member Executive Committee that helps set direction and recommends the annual FTE fee paid by the membership. The Executive Committee meets a maximum of five times during the school year at the Everett site. Agendas are sent to all superintendents prior to the meetings. The meetings are open, and if attending, please contact the NWRDC Director to assure materials and seating are available, 24 hours in advance of the meeting.
The staff of 29 is divided among administration, technology, operations, and student and fiscal analyst support.
Funding:
The NWRDC is supported through members' FTE fees, with 98 percent of its annual income based on these fees plus 2 percent coming from special projects. The Print Shop, which opened in May 2007, has been developed as a fee for service opportunity with only those districts utilizing the service paying for it.
The NWRDC FTE fee is among the lowest of the Regional Data Centers. In addition to the WSIPC software licensing fee of $17.74, NWRDC Full Service members pay $23.27, Student Only $14.77 and Fiscal Only $12.94 per FTE. This fee covers all support including training at multiple sites, phone and on site consultations, business hours phone support Monday through Friday, WESPaC hardware and nightly back up of district information, offsite storage based on State archiving requirements, Citrix licensing and a wide variety of Student and Financial User Groups. The Operations group maintains the computer, printing and shipping of all WESPaC reports and a technology support person assists districts in technical issues related to the integrated WESPaC Management Systems.
