Engaging Real Readers in the Reader's Workshop Grades 1-5

Come experience the Reader's Workshop.  Ideas for implementing a reader's workshop in your classroom will be shared.  Specific examples and lessons for setting up an environment that encourages real reading and writing will be demonstrated.  A sample schedule and ideas for organizing time will be shown, as well as lessons for teaching word skills/phonics, comprehension, vocabulary, and fluency strategies with a focus on choice.  Specific examples for assessing readers and setting goals for each student will be emphasized.
