Welcome to the Prevention Center

The Purpose of the Prevention Center is to promote student academic success by providing leadership, support, and resources to schools to help them create a safe and supportive learning environment.

Leadership including on-site staff training, board presentations, technical assistance on topics ranging from policies and procedures, Healthy Youth Survey and other data interpretation, Principles of Effectiveness, Risk and Protective Factors, research, networking, Natural Helper and Peer Mediation trainings for students, and fulfilling individual district's needs, is available to districts.

Support of districts' prevention and intervention activities related to tobacco, alcohol, and other drug abuse prevention, bullying prevention, violence prevention, suicide intervention, and other prevention/intervention education programs and activities, including providing school staff, student, community and parent trainings.

Resources related specifically to prevention topics are available from the NWESD Learning Resource Cooperative (For the Prevention Center's resources, choose "Media Catalog" from the menu on the right, then choose "Search All Catalogs", then choose "Safe and Drug Free Schools" or "Tobacco" in the Collection drop-down box.) Some tobacco related resources can be checked out directly from the Prevention Center, and we can help you with finding curriculum and resources available elsewhere.
