Migrant Education Regional Office

{ME Logo}
The Migrant Education Regional Office (MERO) at NWESD is one of three MEROs in Washington State. Our service region is Western Washington. The MEROs' focus is to assist school district staff in their efforts to improve migrant student achievement by providing high quality professional development opportunities and technical assistance. Funds for the MERO come from the U.S. Department of Education, Migrant Education Program, and are granted to NWESD from the Office of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction in Olympia.

{daffs}
MERO supports schools and school districts in Western Washington to increase migrant student achievement and the number of migrant high school graduates.

The primary goal of the migrant education program is to ensure that all migrant students reach challenging academic standards AND graduate with a high school diploma (or complete a GED) that prepares them for responsible citizenship, further learning, and productive employment.
